July 17, 2024 – Terra Nova National Park and Charleston, Eastern Newfoundland Coast
Wednesday morning, we left Lewisporte and drove southeast where we stopped at Terra Nova National Park. We stopped at the Visitor Center and watched a film about the park and bought a couple of T-shirts. Terra Nova National Park was established in 1957 and is Canada’s most easterly national park. The park covers over 400 square kilometers and was the first national park in Newfoundland and Labrador.
We hiked on the Coastal Trail – Nancy and Tacky going down the long staircase to the trailhead.
Our view of Newman Sound.
The trail went through a beautiful
boreal forest.
The trail dipped down to a couple of
sandy beaches – Nancy and Tacky resting on the beach.
At the halfway point we came upon beautiful Pissamare Falls.
Gunter took a Fockler family picture
next to the falls.
As we had a distance to travel yet to our next
campground, we turned around here and headed back to the motorhome.
This was a beautiful hike and a great national park.
We drove on to Charleston where we are staying at Cabot Hi-way RV Park. We were lucky to get sites by the lake.
A beautiful sunset to end our day.
