July 15-16, 2024 – Fogo Island, Central Newfoundland Coast

Monday morning, we took a 45-minute ferry to Fogo Island.  Was a nice trip but we did have to leave Tacky and Charlie in the Jeep.  They did fine together but we are sure they would rather have been with us.

Fogo Island is the largest offshore island of Newfoundland and Labrador. While driving around the island we stopped at Banks Cove and hiked on the Brimstone Trail.  We had a great view of the small village of Fogo.

                        Beautiful views of the coast.

Nancy, Tacky, Susanne, Gunter and Charlie hiking along the cliffs.

Another beautiful view from the trail.  After our hike we continued driving around the island and stopped at Cod Jiggers Diner for lunch.  This was the only restaurant we could find that was open and we had a great lunch.

We also stopped at Mona’s Quilt and Jam Shop and bought some homemade partridgeberry jam and marshberry jam.  We were tired by the time we arrived at the ferry and enjoyed the rest on our ride back.

Another great day exploring Newfoundland!

Tuesday, we decided to take a day off from sightseeing and spent the day relaxing and catching up on the blog and other chores around the motorhome.  Rex washed the Jeep and cleaned the inside – 4 adults and 2 dogs do make a mess when it rains!
