Rex and Nancy's Travels - "ALL WHO WANDER ARE NOT LOST" - JRR Tolkein

Rex’s mom’s back yard is a wonderful place to park the 5 th wheel but it is not as green as it usually is.   It has been hot and dry here this summer – except that it is still humid!   We have access to water and minimal electric but works great we only sleep here and spend the rest of the time in her house.   Rex spent a few days washing the moss off the shop and a smaller shed and then he painted them both red. We enjoyed visiting with Rex’s mom and she had a long list of handyman jobs for him.   She kept him happy with home baked cookies and peanut M&Ms!   We also visited with a lot of Rex’s relatives including several trips to his Uncle Ike’s house on Odell Lake.   We kayaked around the small lake and enjoyed sitting in Uncle Ike’s screened porch while we visited and heard lots of stories about his mom’s family.   We also saw Rex’s step-brother, Scott and his wife, Nora, his Uncle Pat and Aunt Carolyn and many of h...

It is great to see Ginny again and she has a long “honey do” list for Rex.   He has been kept busy painting, mowing, and fixing things for her.   Rex enjoys keeping busy and helping his mom.   She did some mending for us and made a cover for the leaf in our dining tables and modified    We bought some throws to protect our couch and recliners but they were too big and didn’t fit properly.   Ginny redid these covers for us so they fit our furniture better – thank you so much. Rex also did some work for Arnie and Cheryl, his mom’s next door neighbors.   He did some handyman work in their house, cut down some trees and split a big pile of wood.     Arnie and Cheryl are very good neighbors and help Ginny whenever she needs anything.   We enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels around the bird feeders.   The squirrels liked to sit on the window sill and torment Camille and Cody who would run between the kitchen window...

Tuesday morning Rex gave Cody and Camille baths and haircuts while Nancy helped Rex’s mom clean up her house.   We had a really nice visit with Rex’s mom and his aunts, uncles and cousins; but it is time to move on.   After lunch we headed north toward Lake Erie.   We stayed at Tall Timbers Campground near Port Clinton, OH – a nice campground with lots of grass and a small lake.     Lake Erie is the twelfth largest freshwater lake in the world and the shallowest of the five Great Lakes.   It is about 210 miles long and 57 miles wide with approximately 871 miles of shoreline.   It has a maximum depth of 210 feet.   We visited Marblehead Lighthouse State Park and toured Marblehead Lighthouse.          Marblehead Lighthouse was built in 1819 from native limestone on the tip of Marblehead Peninsula.
