July 11-12, 2024 – Deer Lake, Central Newfoundland
Thursday morning it was raining as we left Pistolet Bay Provincial Park to drive south to Deer Lake. We drove into St. Anthony for fuel and on the way out of town a moose ran across the road in front of Gunter and Susanne. Luckily, they saw the truck coming toward them stop so they were also able to stop and let the moose cross.
We are staying at Gateway to the North Campground in
Deer Lake.
Friday morning, we walked down the street to the Humber River Nature Trail. We hiked the trail which followed the Humber
River.
The 5.5 km trail wound through a
forested area.
The forest was beautiful and the
green contrasted beautifully with the dark tree trunks.
Gunter, Nancy, Rex and the dogs (Charlie and Tacky) taking a break and enjoying the view of the river.
We spent the afternoon shopping and doing
chores around the motorhome. In the
evening Nancy and Susanne and the dogs took a hike on another section of the
Humber River Nature Trail while Rex and Gunter played guitars at the campsite. Tomorrow we are going to move east to the
north central coast.
