Rex and Nancy's Travels - "ALL WHO WANDER ARE NOT LOST" - JRR Tolkein

  We left early Monday morning and drove all day to Cody, WY - it was a long but beautiful drive.   We are staying at Absaroka Bay RV.   This park has small sites and we are very close to our neighbors.   We are glad we are only staying here 2 nights. Tuesday morning we took some time off from sightseeing to do laundry.   After lunch we walked around downtown Cody and did some window shopping.   We did stop at the Wyoming Buffalo Company and bought some great buffalo summer sausage, cherry salsa, and sweet and hot pepper relish.   We have been to Cody a number of times and have seen all the museums here and Mariah was not really interested so we will skip them this time.   We did take her to the Irma Hotel in downtown Cody to watch the gunfight in the street.   The good guys and the bad guys are playing cards at the saloon and then the outlaws decided to rob the bank next door. ...

We camped with our old FCRV camping group, The RV Rascals, at the AB Campground in Cheyenne, WY. It was great to see all our camping friends for the weekend. Our granddaughter, Mariah, came with us and was happy to see a couple of the kids she grew up camping with. The campground has a BBQ restaurant that serves the best ribs we have had in a long time. We went to the Farmer’s Market in downtown Cheyenne and got some great Colorado peaches and some tomatoes. Kind of funny that we went to Wyoming to get Colorado peaches! Rex’s mother called Sunday afternoon to tell us that his stepfather had passed away. Consequently, we are changing our plans and instead of heading to South Dakota we are leaving Monday morning for Shreve, Ohio. We are not sure we are going to make it for the funeral but will try.

We drove to Cody where we are staying at Ponderosa Campground. We visited with friends, Dave & Joyce. Rex worked with Dave at CREA for many years. We have been to Cody before so we didn’t go to the museums but mainly enjoyed visiting with Dave and Joyce. They took us for a drive on Saturday to an archeological site near Greybull. We stopped at a airplane museum but, unfortunately , it was not open. We had a great visit and they were very gracious hosts, even letting us use their washer and dryer – it was great not to have to use a laundromat. If the economy doesn’t improve soon, this will be our new home!!!
