November 1 – December 31, 2017 – Apache Junction, AZ

Rex continues to keep busy with handyman work, tai chi classes and his music and Nancy has kept busy with tai chi classes, water aerobics, bocce ball and bunco.  Even though we are keeping busy we are having a hard time with the loss of Camille and Cody.  It is still very hard to come home to an empty house and not being greeted by them.  We have started looking for another dog and have decided we want another English Cocker and as they are not all that common, especially in Arizona, it will take us a while to find one.

Rex started Thursday night live at Meridian Manor as a time for residents to get together and play acoustic music, sing, tell jokes or funny stories or anything else we can come up with.  They meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month and the November and December sessions went very well with lots of singing and playing of guitars and piano.

We enjoyed Meridian Manor’s Christmas Parade with lots of decorated golf carts, bicycles and motorcycles.  At the end of the parade Santa and Mrs. Claus rode on a decorated flatbed trailer.  It was a very nice parade followed by cookies, hot chocolate and caroling in the clubhouse.  Rex enjoyed accompanying the carolers on his guitar.

We put lights on our little Christmas tree this year which makes it look a lot more festive.  This is the tree Rex made from driftwood we collected on our visit to Vancouver Island a couple of years ago.   Nancy convinced Rex to put lights on the outside of the house this year.   Now we are really in the Christmas spirit.

Rex participated in the Christmas Eve program at Golden Sun RV again this year.  It was a very entertaining and fun night with a group of residents singing Christmas songs.  Rex and Gunther provided the accompaniment with their guitars and Rex sang four solos and two duets.  After the program we all enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies – a great way to spend Christmas Eve!  We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Day potluck at our clubhouse in Meridian Manor with lots of good food and fellowship.

It is hard to believe that 2017 is almost over – how times does fly!  We look back over the year and even though we had a few setbacks – Rex’s fall and hospitalization in March and the loss of Camille and Cody in the Fall – we have had a good year and are looking forward to a great 2018.
