Rex’s mom lives on one and a half acres in the woods – a really nice place to camp!  The squirrels kept Cody and Camille busy.     One morning Rex took the dogs out early and found this little raccoon in the front yard.  The dogs got really excited and wanted to chase it.     We got to see a lot of Rex’s aunts, uncles and cousins.  We attended a party celebrating his uncle Ike’s 85 th birthday.  Ike lives in Lakeville on Odell Lake.  We visited him one day and took the kayaks out on the small lake. We also took the kayaks on a 9 mile trip down the Mohican River.  It was kind of strange kayaking on a river that was bordered by trees that hung over the river almost everywhere.  It was also different from the Salt River in Arizona in that the water was very murky and you could not see the bottom.     We did see some wildlife - this hawk was sitting beside the river – maybe looking for lunch.   A short distance from the

May 7 – 10, 2012 – Traveling to Ohio

We left Midland on Monday morning and drove to Aubrey, TX where we spent the night at Lincoln Park – a large manufactured housing development that also has RV spots.   The next day we drove through Oklahoma, Arkansas and into Missouri.  We stayed overnight at the Big Red Barn RV Park in Carthage, MO. Wednesday we drove across Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.  We were going to stay at a Wal-Mart in Terre Haute but they did not allow overnight stays so we drove down the road to the Terre Haute KOA.  We really have a hard time paying $49 for a water & electric site but it was getting late and we were tired.  The park was really nice and they had a great dog park that the dogs really enjoyed. After crossing Indiana and western Ohio, we arrived at Rex’s mom’s house in Shreve, OH around 4 on Thursday afternoon where we parked in her back yard.

May 1-6, 2012 – Midland, TX

We left Benson, AZ on April 30th and headed toward Midland, TX where we are going to visit with Rex’s youngest daughter, Jen.   We stopped in Van Horn, TX and spent the night at the KOA.   We arrived in Midland on May 1st and are staying at the Midessa Oil Patch RV Park.   Boy is it hot here – it is 104 with 50% humidity.   It hit over 100 every day we were here but the humidity did go down some.   It is so hot here that the tents even have air conditioning!   This is tent camping Texas style -   they also had a TV.     We met our new grand puppy – a very cute 11 week old miniature dachshund puppy named Haley.  She is such a sweetie!      Camille and Cody were not sure what to make of this wiggly bundle of energy.   Cody did play some with Haley and her brother, Jack (a Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix Jen has had for 4 years).   Jen also has 3 cats and a Gecko.   The dogs really did enjoy the nice dog park they have here.
