Rex is keeping busy with lots of handyman jobs and washing park models at Golden Sun RV resort.  We are both doing Tai Chi again – taking classes 3 days a week at Golden Sun RV Resort and Rex is again teaching a class 3 days a week here in Meridian Manor.  Along with Tai Chi Nancy is keeping busy with water aerobics, pickle ball, bocce ball, and hiking.  She also attends the once-a-month Ladies Luncheon.

The first Coffee Shop was held at Golden Sun RV at the end of November – Rex and Gunther played guitars and sang for over an hour (Gunther also played his ukulele).  A beautiful thought-provoking poem was read by a member of the audience.  The music and poetry was enjoyed by all.

We were invited to our neighbors, Meryl and Paula, for Thanksgiving dinner.  Their daughter, Meri, and Paula’s sister and her husband were also there.  We had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed visiting with everyone.

Camille had surgery on December 16th to remove a malignant tumor on one of her anal glands.  The surgery went well and our vet, Dr. DeCozio said she was able to remove all of the tumor (which was about the size of a golf ball) and that the cancer had not spread – we are thankful that she is making a great recovery.   Other than the arthritis in her hips she is doing well for a 13 year old and Cody at 11 is also doing well.

Rex’s mom visited us from Ohio for 3 weeks in December.   We took a couple of Jeep drives – one to Tortilla Flats for lunch and then on into the Superstition Mountains to a viewpoint overlooking the descent into Fish Creek.  Another day we took a longer drive around the back side of Four Peaks.  We found some snow on the road toward the top of the mountain and got the Jeep pretty muddy by the time we were done.  Rex’s mom enjoyed the beautiful desert scenery but thought the road was a little rough.

Rex and his mom visited his cousin Les and his wife, Barb while Nancy stayed home with a nasty cold.  Les’s brother, Kelly, was also visiting from Alaska.  Rex had not seen Kelly since we were in Alaska in 2009 so they had a nice visit.

We again set up the Christmas tree that Rex made out of drift wood he collected on Vancouver Island.  We enjoyed this little tree again this year and have decided that we will put lights on it next year.

We met Rex’s brother, Jack, and his family at the Thirsty Lion for lunch on Christmas Eve where we had a nice lunch and visit.  A great picture of mom and her two sons.

Rex participated in the Christmas Eve program at Golden Sun RV later that evening - he played guitar and sang with others from the park.  He sang “Christmas for Cowboys” which everyone enjoyed.  A great evening with wonderful music and hot chocolate and cookies afterward.

Christmas day we enjoyed a nice dinner with our neighbors, Cindee and Henk.  Other neighbors Teri and Ken were also there along with Wally from across the street.   After a great dinner we played Mexican Train for a couple of hours.  It was nice to spend Christmas with Rex’s mom and with our wonderful neighbors.

It was great spending Christmas with Rex’s mom.  We go to Ohio to visit her every other summer but this is the first time we have spent Christmas with her in a long time.

New Year’s Eve we took Rex’s mom to the McNasty Brothers Show and dinner at Mining Camp Restaurant.  Good bluegrass music and delicious ribs with all the fixings – a great way to end 2016.
