May 9-10, 2024 - Midland, TX to Frierson, LA

We left Midland Thursday morning and drove east across west Texas.  We stopped for the night at Aledo, TX, which is west of Fort Worth.  We stayed at the Cow Town RV Park but forgot to get a picture.  Friday morning, we continued east and stopped at Frierson, LA which is about 15 miles south of Shreveport.  We spent the night at ODK Farm, a Harvest Host host.  We were greeted by Oscar and told to park on the lawn in front of  house.  After we got set up Oscar brought us some delicious lemon bars.

They raise white tail deer on the farm, along with chickens, blackberries and some vegetables.  The deer were in a field behind our motorhome.  We walked down the driveway and were able to see some of them.

This Great Pyrenees guards the deer.  She is friendly with humans but does not like dogs, so we kept Tacky at a distance.  During the night we heard her bark a couple of times – protecting her herd.

After dinner Oscar invited us to watch him feed the deer snacks.  Many of the deer came to the fence to get the treats he through over the fence.  He said they had about 30 deer.  The chickens also enjoyed some of the snacks.

We enjoyed our stay at ODK Farm.  It was nice to have a quiet and scenic place to spend the night.
