May 2-8, 2024 – Apache Junction, AZ to Midland, TX

After many frustrating months trying to get repairs done on our motorhome, we finally got it back and spent a few frantic days getting it all packed and ready for the summer.  We think the new Jeep looks great behind the motorhome.

We got started on Thursday and drove to Tucson where we stayed at Cactus Garden RV Park.   Our friends, Beth and Charlie, met us at the RV Park and we all went out to dinner.  We had not seen Beth and Charlie for over a year, so we had a wonderful time getting caught up with them.

Friday morning, we drove to La Union, NM, which is just west of El Paso, TX where we spent the night at La Vina Winery.  We parked in the parking lot on the side of the winery.

We could see part of the vineyard from our motorhome.  The trees in the back are pecan trees and there are more grapevines on the other side of the pecan trees.  After dinner we took a very nice walk along a path that went around this part of the vineyard.  We had a quiet and restful night here.

Saturday, we drove on to Midland, TX where we spent 5 days with Rex’s daughter, Jen and her partner, Jeromy.  We stayed at Midland RV Park, which is in the middle of an industrial area, so it was not very nice.  Fortunately, we spent most of our time at Jen and Jeromy’s house.  We did have some wind on our way to Midland and discovered the front air conditioner cover blew off.  We were able to find one at a RV parts store in Midland.  Rex and Jen replaced the cover and reinforced both the front and back covers.

We enjoyed our visit with Jen and Jeromy.  Rex and Jen were able to go through a lot of old family pictures together and they also flew kites together one afternoon.
