June 16-18, 2014 – Traveling to Virginia

Image
We left Rex’s moms house on Monday morning and headed southeast towards Virginia.   We stopped the first night at a small motel/rv park in Scarbro, WV.   This was not a place we would spend more than one night – our neighbors were a family living in a 27’ travel trailer.   There were 3 boys ranging in age from about 6 to 16 and a German Shepard.   The trailer was surrounded by toys and stuff – not a pretty sight out our windows.    When we entered Virginia we no longer could tow the Jeep behind the 5 th wheel so Nancy had to start driving it.   We don’t like to travel in separate vehicles but we must obey the law.    The next night we stopped at a Thousand Trails Resort in Lynchburg, VA.   This was a very nice resort and we decided to stay two nights so we could go to the Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Park where Lee surrendered to Grant.   Just as we were ready to leave that morning the electricity went of...

It is great to see Ginny again and she has a long “honey do” list for Rex.   He has been kept busy painting, mowing, and fixing things for her.   Rex enjoys keeping busy and helping his mom.   She did some mending for us and made a cover for the leaf in our dining tables and modified    We bought some throws to protect our couch and recliners but they were too big and didn’t fit properly.   Ginny redid these covers for us so they fit our furniture better – thank you so much. Rex also did some work for Arnie and Cheryl, his mom’s next door neighbors.   He did some handyman work in their house, cut down some trees and split a big pile of wood.     Arnie and Cheryl are very good neighbors and help Ginny whenever she needs anything.   We enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels around the bird feeders.   The squirrels liked to sit on the window sill and torment Camille and Cody who would run between the kitchen window...

May 28-31, 2014 – Traveling to Ohio

Image
We left Fort Collins on Wednesday morning and headed east toward Ohio to visit Rex’s mom.   We spent the first night at Sunny Meadows RV in Elk Creek, Nebraska.   Our second night was at Kellog RV in Kellog, Iowa.   Our last night on the road was spent at Caboose Lake Campground in Remington, Indiana.   We got to Rex’s mom, Virginia’s, house in Shreve, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.   We had a long, tiring but uneventful trip.   Virginia lives on 1 ½ acres in the woods and we have parked the 5 th wheel in her backyard - it is like camping in a beautiful park.

May 21-27, 2014 – Fort Collins, Colorado

Wednesday morning we said good-bye to Bill and Terri and drove to Fort Collins.   We traveledI-25 and just north of Longmont traffic came to a standstill and was stop and go for about 30 minutes.   There was a very bad accident by the Mead exit where a vehicle rear-ended a semi and ended up underneath the trailer.   We count our blessings every day that we have been fortunate not to have had a serious accident in our travels.  We are staying at the Fort Collins Lakeside KOA Resort; a very nice and well maintained resort – although it is a little pricey.   This cute train drove through the park every day giving rides to kids young and old.   Rex enjoyed looking over the train and talking to the lady who drove it. Thursday we drove to Estes Park with our friends from Loveland, Bob and Jean.   We saw a lot of the damage from the floods last year.   It is heartbreaking to see all the damage to house...
