June 1, 2023 – Canyon City, CO
We left Chama on a rainy morning and headed north to Colorado. It rained most of the way and as we were descending Poncha Pass it started hailing. It hailed so much that there was at least a half inch of slushy hail on the road. We had a very slow and somewhat scary ride down the pass but made it in fine shape. We continued to Canyon City, CO and spent the night at the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey. This is another Harvest Host location and we stayed in a parking lot next to the winery. We didn’t buy any wine but found some praline pecan honey butter which is delicious on toast in the morning. We walked a short distance to Walmart to pick up a few groceries.
The next morning, we took a walk around the beautiful
Abbey grounds. Another enjoyable visit
to a Harvest Host site. We are glad we
decided to join Harvest Host this year.
