June 4-11, Loveland, CO

Sunday morning, we drove to Loveland, CO – again it rained the entire trip.   We are staying at Loveland RV Park.   This is the park we stayed at for 6 weeks between our house selling and our retirement starting. Monday morning, we attended the services at Fort Logan National Cemetery for Nancy’s parents.   Nancy’s mother passed away 5 years ago and her father passed away in January.   There wishes were to have their ashes interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery.      Waiting for the ceremony to start.                                                            Folding the flag Taps (see video below, make sure audio is on) and a 21-gun salute.                       Deacon Mike giving the final blessing. It was a beautiful ceremony in a very peaceful and restful setting.  We were fortunate that we had nice weather and it did not rain.  After the ceremony, we visited the grave of our good friend, Bob, who was buried here last year. We spent some time with Nancy’s son, daughter-in

June 2-3, 2023 – Pueblo, CO

About mid-morning we left and drove a short distance to Lake Pueblo State Park, which is just west of Pueblo.  We had a nice back-in site with plenty of room for the Jeep. It rained off and on both days, but we were able to take a lot of walks around the campground and along the lake.   We also spent a lot of time reading in the motorhome when it was raining.

June 1, 2023 – Canyon City, CO

We left Chama on a rainy morning and headed north to Colorado.   It rained most of the way and as we were descending Poncha Pass it started hailing.   It hailed so much that there was at least a half inch of slushy hail on the road.   We had a very slow and somewhat scary ride down the pass but made it in fine shape.   We continued to Canyon City, CO and spent the night at the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey.    This is another Harvest Host location and we stayed in a parking lot next to the winery.   We didn’t buy any wine but found some praline pecan honey butter which is delicious on toast in the morning.   We walked a short distance to Walmart to pick up a few groceries. The next morning, we took a walk around the beautiful Abbey grounds.   Another enjoyable visit to a Harvest Host site.   We are glad we decided to join Harvest Host this year.

May 6 – 31, 2023, Chama, NM

We arrived in Chama and got set up on a river site at the Rio Chama RV Park.   We will stay here until June 1 st and help the new owner, Dale, get the park ready for the season.   The river is very high right now but the view from our campsite is wonderful. We drove to Pagosa Springs on our day off to get groceries and were happy to see all the snow still on the mountains.   We are glad that the Rockies got a good amount of snow this winter. We enjoyed our time helping Dale get the RV park going and also seeing all of our “Chama friends” but we are anxious to get back to traveling again.

May 5, 2023 – Grants, NM

We left Apache Junction on Friday morning on our way to Chama, NM where we are going to help the new owner of Rio Chama RV Park for the month of May.   Then, after 6 years spending summers working at the park, we will start traveling again.   With the wet winter Arizona experienced this year the cactus and flowers in our yard did exceptionally well. Our front yard: And the back yard: This beautiful cactus is in our neighbor’s yard just across the back fence. We stopped in Grants , NM where we spent the night at Route 66 Junkyard Brewery, which is a Harvest Host Location.  We joined Harvest Host this year to help with camping during our travels.  You can dry camp for 1 night free at wineries, breweries, farms, etc.  This place was unique as we parked in the parking lot of the junkyard surrounded by junk vehicles. Inside the brewery we checked in at the bar, which was an old GMC pickup shell.  The front of the truck, minus the motor greeted you when you entered, and the bed was the ba
