September 20-30, 2011 – Chama, NM, continued
Rex has continued to work on the train every other day and Nancy has continued working in the model rail yard display one day a week. Rex also groomed a couple of West Highland Terriers named Scotty and Dougal for Della, one of the summer residents in the RV park. Della walks our dogs while we are on the train so we don’t have to worry about them. While Rex was grooming the two Westies a couple with 2 Cock-a-Poos named Sonny and Cher stopped and asked him if he would bathe and groom their dogs. This may be a way to supplement our income if the stock market keeps falling!
Our friend, Terri, from Castlerock, CO and her friend, Bill, visited us for a few days. We all rode the train on Friday, the 23rd (Rex was working that day). We had a great ride; the weather was perfect – in the 70’s with hardly a cloud in the sky. The fall colors are just starting to turn in the higher elevations.
We had a great visit with Terri and Bill and are enjoying the fresh veggies they brought us from Bill’s garden – Thanks Terri and Bill!
Rex’s last day working on the train was Thursday, the 29th and Nancy also rode that day. We had a great day in the low 70’s and partly cloudy. It even rained on us a little toward the end of the trip.
The fall colors were beautiful - boy what a difference a week makes!
Coming into Osier, Co where we will stop for a great lunch.
Looking back toward Toltec Gorge.
Another view of the great fall colors.
It looks like the colors will be at their peak next week; but unfortunately, we will not be here as we are leaving October 1st. We did get to see a heard of elk and antelope on the way to Antonito. That was really great to see.
