April 2010
Our last hike for the season with the park hiking group was to Box Canyon outside of Florence. We had a great hike and saw lots of wild flowers and a few cacti blooming.
We have really enjoyed all our hikes with the group and are looking forward to hiking with them again next fall.
Our Tai Chi class finished for this season in April. We really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. A couple of times our class went to the park. And yes, Rex was allowed to wear his railroad cap in class.
Nancy’s dad finished his radiation treatments for his prostate cancer this month. We are all very thankful that he is doing really good and is feeling better than he has for a long time.
Back in January Rex dug up a hedgehog cactus and a pincushion cactus from Nancy’s parent’s property and planted them in pots in front of our 5th wheel. Much to our surprise, the hedgehog cactus bloomed this month.
We hiked through some great canyons and climbed a few rocks.

Rex finally finished physical therapy on his finger. It still isn’t straight but is probably as straight as it will ever be again. The important thing is that he has regained full use of it.

Rex has finished the season on the Dolly and looks forward to coming back in October so he can get enough time on the boat to qualify to test for his captain’s license.
The park is really emptying out this month as everyone is heading home for the summer. By the end of April there were only 2 of us left on our street. Our park has a little over 300 sites but only about 10-15 people stay over the summer.
We have really enjoyed our winter here but, after 6 months of sitting in one place, it is time to travel. We are heading north May 1st and will stop in Prescott for a couple of days and then spend some time at the Grand Canyon before heading for the National Parks in Southern Utah.
